〈Alice in Hungerland〉是一場讀劇演出，從臺灣視角重新詮釋路易斯·卡羅的〈愛麗絲夢遊仙境〉，探討一位年輕女性與食物之間的關係。隨著愛麗絲進入大學，她逐漸察覺自己所身處的世界似乎並不合理，為了迎合他人，她以各種方式進食與節食，身體尺寸也因此產生劇烈變化。新結識的朋友們將各自的生活方式強加於她身上——儘管這些行為出於善意，卻也一步步將她推向崩潰邊緣，劇情最終發展至一場荒誕、奇幻且毫無邏輯的法庭審判：愛麗絲被指控偷走了「皇后」（亦即她的母親）的塔，生命因此受到威脅。她是否能從「Hungerland」中解放自己？抑或將永遠困於自我建立的地獄之中？這齣奇幻並具有實驗性的作品，透過角色與荒謬情境的碰撞，深入探討亞洲文化、飲食失調與宗教等複雜議題。
劇作家將與在地演員合作，以英文進行選段的舞台朗讀，呈現此全本劇作的部分內容。
Performance Introduction
Alice in Hungerland is a theatrical experience that reimagines Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland through a Taiwanese lens, investigating a young woman's relationship with food. As Alice enters college, she begins to suspect that the world she is living in does not make sense. As she eats and drinks to appease those around her, or subsequently refrains from food, her size changes drastically. Her newfound friends impose their own lifestyles onto her—though they're well intentioned, they drive her to the edge of madness. The play culminates in a whimsical, nonsensical courtroom trial where Alice is accused of stealing the Queen's (her mother's) tarts—her life is on the line. Can she free herself from Hungerland? Or will she be forever trapped in a hellscape of her own making? This fantastical, experimental play dives into the complexities of Asian culture, food disorders, and identity as characters collide with the absurd.
The playwright will present selected scenes from her full-length play through a staged reading in collaboration with local actors in English.
