民宿、酒吧、咖啡廳；
小巷、城牆、運河邊——
老城裡的年輕人，用日與夜唱著一首首屬於生活的歌。
這次，他們帶著樂器出發，走進熟悉又陌生的街區。
邀請你一起散步，和我們走一段路，
去發現那些從沒仔細看過的角落，
聽聽這座城市的聲音，想像它的無數可能。
這不是一場劇場式的演出，而是一段在日常午後或夜晚的散步，襯著音樂、記憶、城市的風景、生活的想像，我們都是這座城市的樂手。
由臺南出身的劇場導演許哲彬與吳子敬共同發想，《城市樂手的日與夜》靈感來自德國童話《不來梅的城市樂手》。但我們不再講述四隻動物的故事，而是邀請表演者、樂手，和觀眾一起走進台南的老城區，漫步於日常的聲響之中——帶領觀眾聆聽聲音、採集聲音、看見聲音，一同想像、提問：我們是怎麼在這座城市生活著的？
沒有排演好的段落，只有當下的節奏與耳邊的聲響，每場旅程由表演者與樂手引路，邀請觀眾一起穿梭台南中西區的小巷、老街、咖啡館與古城牆。可能從風神廟出發，沿著海安路走進神農街，在一間白天沒開過的酒吧前聽一段即興吉他；也可能在兌悅門聽一首詩、在空地上跳一場 silent disco、經過老房子窗縫透出的燈光，來到小酒館或咖啡店裡聊聊彼此。然後，我們約定在某個晚上，一起來場派對。
你不需要會演奏，只要願意聽，願意和我們一起在聲音裡生活。
在熟悉的空間與不經意的步伐中，走著走著、聊著聊著，
在耳朵打開的那一刻，也成為城市的樂手，
為自己的生活演奏。

Notes within a City
Notes within a City is a site-specific walking performance created by Tora Hsu and Wu Ji-Zing. Set in Tainan’s historic West District, it invites audiences to become musicians of the everyday—tuning into sounds not just as music, but as fragments of memory, overheard conversations, shifting temperatures, and the scent of lived spaces. Led by performers and live instruments, each walk unfolds through alleys, cafés, ruins, and temples. Audiences don’t merely follow—they gather sounds, respond, and join spontaneous dialogue. There is no fixed stage, only moments of shared listening, improvised rhythm, and fleeting presence, composed together between day and night.

Tora Hsu
Tora Hsu is the Artistic Director of 4 CHAIRS THEATRE and holds an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London. His work spans original Taiwanese plays and localized adaptations of international texts, balancing popular appeal with socially engaged themes. His practice emphasizes collective creation and a text-driven “new realism” aesthetic. He was named one of the “People of the Year” by PAR Performing Arts Review (2021), received the Cloud Gate Art Makers Project grant (2022), and was awarded Best Director at the 2025 Taipei Theatre Awards for The Sun.
Wu Ji-Zing
Artistic Director of the multidisciplinary performance collective House Peace and guest director of Mr. Wing Theatre Company, Wu holds a Master’s degree in Set Design and Directing from Taipei National University of the Arts.
As a director, playwright, and stage designer, Wu’s work spans theatre, concerts, and film. His theatre pieces have been presented by the National Center for Traditional Arts (NCFTA), Guling Street Avant-garde Theatre and Taipei Arts Festival, among others. Beyond theatre practices, Wu also served as associate director for Wu Bai & China Blue’s 30th anniversary rock opera.
His set designs were shortlisted for the 2017 World Stage Design and won the 20th Taishin Arts Award Grand Prize for A Journey towards Sentiment (kanshooryokoo). His film, Somewhere Out There, received a Silver Award at the New York Festivals and was screened internationally.
